Acronis True Image 2018: backup file.tib is of Windows 7 Home or Windows 10 Home

Thread solved

I created a backup with Acronis True Image 2018 on 20-08-2020: Is any way to tell if the OS I did backup(C:/) was Windows 7 Home or Windows 10 Home...?

Explore the backup by opening it in Explorer (double-click on the .tib file), then look at the files in the C:\Windows\System32 directory and in particular look at their Properties which should show version information.

You could compare the information with the same file from a Windows 7 or 10 system.

Look at C:\Windows\explorer.exe for example:

The product & file information shows this is a Windows 10 application file.

The second image is from a Windows 7 system and the version number is now 6 not 10 plus the file date is much older!

I couldn't in place in the tib get the Properties

I copied it to the root of the USB drive and says

6

So, I guess is Windows 7 backup, right???

Yes, that looks much the same as my image from Windows 7!

I also had the same concern some time back so I wrote a small scripts that now runs as a scheduled task on every log on. It writes a small file in the C:\ root folder to identify the Windows version.
