Allow CPU thermal throttling from bootable USB/CD to prevent shutdowns

Thread needs solution

I have an old computer that runs very hot. On Windows 10 I have a power plan so Maximum Processor state is at 50% or so, to prevent the computer from shutting down due to overheating.

However, when I use the Acronis Universal Restore or Acronis True Image from the bootable media, that doesn't work and the computer powers off after a few minutes of backing up.

Please add the proper options so I can work normally. Apple macos already does that and works perfectly.

If you have these types of heat issues I strongly encourage you to get those issues fixed.  If you cannot fix them yourself then take the machine to a tech whom can.  In most cases a bit of house cleaning will solve these types of problems.  If you are not afraid to open the case (assuming you can open it) removing any dust from around internal components will work wonders in the thermals department.

I found a way to do it. If using clonezilla to backup or restore images, use the built-in command cpufreq-set to set the desired frequency for each one of the cores. That will prevent the computer from overheating.
