Backing Up A VMWare Host Hard Drive

Thread needs solution

Hello,

Is it possible to use TrueImage 2018 to back up a VMWare host hard drive? I tried doing a byte-by-byte backup/restore of my VMWare training computer (1 host, 3 VMs) using Acronis - WinPE. The restored drive does not boot. It seems reasonable that a low level copy should be OS agnostic, but evidently not. This would have been a quick way to restore my training environment. Any thoughts here?

Thanks

It should be possible but more information is needed to understand exactly what is being included in the backup source here?

What is the host OS where you are using the ATI 2018 WinPE media?

What type of backup were you trying to create here? (Disk & Partitions or Files & Folders?).

What BIOS mode does your host OS use when booting into Windows?

What BIOS mode did you use when booting the ATI 2018 WinPE media?

I believe that True Image is not the correct product for your purpose.  I believe that a VmWare Agent must be installed to perform backup of virtual disks.  Acronis offers Acronis Backup - Standard or Advanced versions which offers such support.
