Backup Netgear ReadyNAS 102 to Acronis cloud

Thread needs solution

Greetings all,

Just installed True image and I was wondering if there are special settings I can put in my RedayNAS102 so it will backup to the Acronis cloud.  I have a tab in the NAS that says BAckup, and REMOTE capability, but it is asking for a host and a password etc.

If anyone has some insight on this I would really be grateful.  Thank you

Jim, welcome to these User Forums.

Acronis True Image is a home user / small business backup & recovery product and provides no direct method of installing a Cloud backup application on your Netgear NAS device - you would need to look at the Acronis Backup business products to see if any of those would provide such functionality.

What you can do with ATI 2018 is create a Backup task which takes your NAS share or drive as the Source data and uses the Acronis Cloud as the destination but such data has to be transferred from the NAS to your Windows computer then uploaded to the Acronis Cloud.

There are some obvious requirements and limitations to doing the above.
You will need a Cloud subscription with sufficient storage to host your uploaded NAS data.
You will need a good upload transfer speed for your broadband provider connection to the Cloud.
The type of data stored on your NAS will directly influence the compression ratio that can be achieved by the backup and thus also the storage requirements of the Cloud.  Images, Music, Videos etc are all highly compressed so will not be compressed further by ATI.

Any significant upload of data to the Cloud will take time to complete depending on the limits allowed by your ISP.  For myself, my ISP gives me 100MBps download but only 5MBps upload capacity!
