Calculating time remaining seems to take forever

Thread needs solution

I just started a normal backup.  The program began by figuring that there are 346 MB to back up.  It started the progress bar and said "calculating time remaining" and then so far it has sat there in that condition with no blinking light at all on my Toshiba drive.  I can't tell if it's doing what it's supposed to or not.  I admit I was born impatient!  But when I tried this earlier this morning, it did the same thing so I stopped it after 7 minutes and 21 seconds and its report said it had backed up exactly 0 bytes.

Is it normal to "calculating time remaining" to take so long?  At the moment, on my second try, it's still there after 9 minutes and counting.

Tom, what actual product and version are you using here?

Your signature doesn't make sense with Acronis 2018 v12.5

ATI 2018 build 15470 was the final build for that version.

Acronis Cyber Backup 12.5 or Acronis Disk Director 12.5 are the only products using that version number.

I would recommend going off and making yourself a hot or cold drink, taking a walk etc and leave the backup to run for a while longer than around 10 minutes.  The actual time taken will depend on what you are backing up and the size of the data involved along with the type of backup being performed, i.e. an initial full backup, an incremental etc.
