Can Acronics back up image for the computer (not install Acronics)
Dear Acronics family,
I am Quan, from Intel Vietnam. Now, I am doing a project related to Acronics.
Can I use my laptop (installed Acronics) to back up all data ( folder/ IP address...) from a PC (which not installed Acronics) by using IP address remote or / converting SATA internal HDD to USB portable HDD device?
Appreciate your help!
Thanks,
--Quan

hi Steve,
Thanks for your explanation.
in the third Yes, is it possible for us to use the convert SATA Internal HDD to USB External HDD tool the same with the pics below? then we will back up all data from SATA HDD (Windows OS, all folder, IP address...) in "image file" stored in USB HDD.
Appreciate your help!
Warm regards,

Quan, yes it is possible to use that older type of SATA to USB converter / adapter. Once the USB drive is visible in Explorer to the computer with Acronis True Image then you can make a full backup of the disk & all its partitions.
I personally use a docking station for this purpose:

Just be aware that you can't boot windows from USB adapters. They work great file backing up the disk and restoring the images though.

Thanks Bob and Steve,
@Bod : could you please explain more detail about your comment "Just be aware that you can't boot windows from USB adapters. They work great file backing up the disk and restoring the images though"?
=> that means we can use PC which has Acronics and create back up file in X drive (USB HDD converter). After that, we have "image file for X".
When restoring file for new HDD converter, we will copy X file and paste to new HDD and boot X file. The new HDD will have all data/IP address from the old one?

Quan, Microsoft restrict the ability to boot into Windows from removable USB devices which is how most USB connected drives will show (as removable devices).
Yes, you can make a backup image of the USB HDD drive and you can restore that backup image to the same or a different HDD drive that is connected locally or via USB.
You cannot copy and paste the Acronis backup image .TIB file and expect this to boot - the .TIB file is purely a container to hold the drive / partition data and this has to be restored to a drive using ATI and then that drive reinstalled into the computer where it was taken from before it can boot into Windows.
Please see topic: Great Acronis "How-To" videos and other Acronis Resources which Bobbo (Rob) posted to these forums back in 2016 but which may give you a better idea of how ATI can be used.
