Can't recover backup after NAS upgrade
I was backing up to an external usb drive attached to my Synology 215J nas at \\192.168.1.101\Backup 5Tb. I recently upgraded to a Synology 918+ and attached the backup drive so it is now at \\192.168.1.140\Backup 5Tb. I am now unable to backup or recover files as TI2018 is insisting that I connect \\192.168.1.101. I have tried deleting the backup from TI (retaining the backup files) and then used 'Add existing backup' with the destination set to \\192.168.1.140\Backup 5Tb but it still wants to connect to the old NAS. Any idea how to fix this without changing the ip address of the new NAS?

Thanks for the reply. I went into the registry and deleted the key for 192.168.1.101 and then selected 'Add existing backup'. Once loaded, the destination was already set to 192.168.1.140 (I had added a new backup job to copy the C drive to the new NAS) and selecting 'Reconfigure' only allows me to choose the source drives. It still won't work, if I try to backup I get the error 'The backup cannot be started. Plug in the external drive containing the files of the backup' and if I select 'Recovery' I get the 'Authentication Settings' window attempting to connect to the old NAS.

Mac, have you tried creating a new backup task to the external drive at its new NAS address? This could be something very simple like a single folder with a few files just for the purpose of testing, and will show you if you can establish the correct destination path and credentials?

It sounds like you do have a connection issue with your new device. In addition to Steve's suggestion you should Restart your computer is you have not done so since you connected the new NAS.

Mac...When you add as a new backup, click on the Source and verify that everything is selected properly. Then click on Change Destination then navigate to the new NAS. Then click on Reconfigure.
Please let us know if this works. If not, there is one other thing you can try, but I am hopeful this will work.

Thanks for everyone's comments. Prior to posting my original message, I had already created a new backup job and successfully backed up the laptop's C drive to the external hard drive connected to the new NAS as I wanted to restore from an earlier backup to overcome some (probably) unrelated network issues. This is possibly why when I add the old backup job ('Add existing backup') it already displays the new NAS as the destination. I have also restarted the laptop quite a few times during this process. I'm not sure that it is relevant but the old backup was created in TI 2016 and I've only just upgraded to TI 2018.
