Chrome reports Acronis True Image as incompatible

Thread needs solution

What is going on with ATI that Chrome thinks it is incompatible?  I had not seen this before today, but when I started Chrome it popped up a Settings window to tell me that ATI was an incompatible program.

I'm just getting started with ATI, and use Chrome as my primary browser, so this is concerning.  Just to see what impacts there might be, I started up ATI and initiated a backup while Chrome was running.  Chrome immediately started acting very sluggish and after a time seemed to be locked up.  The ATI backup seemed to running as slow as mud, too.  Once I quit ATI and restarted Chrome it was back to its regular behavior. I'm not yet sure if this is just a one-time fluke, or if it will be a problem.

I don't usually run backups during the day when I'm on the computer, so if they can't run at the same time this is not necessarily a deal-killer if there isn't some kind of work-around.

Any thoughts?

EDITED TO ADD: I just realized that running backups while using a computer is probably a no-no in any case, but the question remains, why does Chrome think ATI is incompatible and what impact might this have on general operations?

Hmmm,.  I cannot answer your question.  I strongly suggest that you open a support ticket with Acronis Support on this problem.  I have never seen anyone else post on this issue and we have many users running Chrome without such issues.

I use Chrome as my browser of choice, and have never had this happen.

Hello Cyberherbalist,

Google Chrome has introduced a new feature - it now "detects" the software that could possibly make it not work stably. From what I read on independent websites, they have included a lot of software in this "incompatible" list without any real examples of the incompatibility:

As for Acronis True Image, we did not encounter/were not reported any issues with Google Chrome because of our program.

I'm getting these messages about Acronis after a Chrome crash as well.

"Phase 3 is starting in January 2019 with Chrome 72 and will automatically block the code injection from these programs."

Can anyone at Acronis say what that impact on True Image will be?  Is there a plan?

As I said above, I use Chrome most of the time and have not had this happen to me (as far as I am aware). I suggest you send a PM to Renata about the issues you are seeing.

Personally, I stopped using Chrome many months ago because of some of the new 'features' they introduced, plus also the integration of their Software Reporter Tool which ran without invitation and reinstalled itself after being removed etc!  I do not need Google Chrome to tell me what software I should run on my computers!

I use the latest version of Mozilla Firefox now as my main browser and have never had any issues related to Acronis or other products I have installed.
