clone hard drive is not working
Hi
I have a perpetual license for 2018 Acronis True Image. Running Win 10 on an 3.4Gz i7 desktop computer. I tried to clone my SSD drive and it went through the complete process but when I swapped SSDs the new one would start but stay frozen and nothing responded.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Ron L

I can get it to this point and it won't go any further.
The box pops up: Cannot find version 1.
You may have moved or deleted it. Please click Browse and specify its location, or ignore this message
Not sure what is meant by version 1 so I don't know where to look.
And I can't ignore the message ... it keeps popping up
Thanks for your help
Ron

It means one of the files for the backup is not available; unless you moved it it should be in the same folder as the other files.
I gather you are using the recovery media; when using recovery media, before exiting you can save the log file which may help narrow down which file is missing and if there is a way to go forward. Is the backup a one off backup, or is it part of a regular backup; if part of a regular backup how many incremental backups are made before a new full backup is made.

Ron, as your original post was about cloning, I would suggest making a fresh new backup image to work with if now choosing to use Backup & Recovery. That will make this type of error much less likely to happen, especially if there is only one backup file to work with!
See forum topic: Steve migrate NVMe SSD where I have documented (with images) the process that I have used multiple times for my own laptops using Backup & Recovery. The principles being used remain the same whether working with laptops or desktop computers.

Got it working ... Thanks for all the good advice
The mistake I made was choosing "complete backup". It was taking files from other external drives. Found out that I can choose certain partitions and that made the difference.
Thanks again
(I did make a fresh new backup)
