Cloning and Archiving

Thread needs solution

Hello all,

I had a quick question regarding the cloning feature within the Acronis boot tool.  Could this be used to clone a system to a drive attached via USB that could then be archived for future use in a disaster recovery situation (I understand the system would be out of date)?  I believe Acronis leaves the source disk/system intact so once the drive is cloned the user could reboot and go back to regular activities.

Kevin, welcome to these User Forums.

You can use cloning to clone to an external USB drive and this should work without making any changes to the source drive provided that you always remember to disconnect that external drive before attempting to reboot the computer.

See forum topic: [IMPORTANT] CLONING - How NOT to do this which was written based on user problems reported in the forums after using cloning.
