Cloning SSD to a Standard Hard Drive, Problem with Drivers
The SSD Drive in my desktop is only 250 GB in size and needs to be replaced by a bigger drive. I want to place a 500 GB drive in the machine. I have a 500 GB SDD drive in a laptop and I have decided to do a swap.
In order to not lose anything on either drive, I decided to 1.) clone the SSD in the desktop and replace it with the clone, 2.) clone the SSD in the laptop to the smaller SSD which has been taken out of the desktop, and 3. Clone the drive now in the Desktop with the drive that has come out of the laptop, all using Acronis.
I used Acronis True Image 2018 to clone the SSD in the Desktop to a Standard Hard Drive, pulled out the SSD and placed the Cloned Standard Drive into the Desktop. It booted, but about 7 drivers no longer worked including 2 unknown drivers, the sound driver (it said sound wasn't installed), and the quad CPU showed it's drivers were not working properly.
Is this because I am attempting to clone from SSD to Standard Hard Drive? Does this mean that in order to properly clone the SSD, I will have to go out and spend another $150 for a 500 GB SSD?
