Compatability

Thread needs solution

I have the 2009 version. Will the 2018 be able to work with the backups I already have? I tried to get hold of support, they're impossible unless you register your copy. I don't want to spend a bunch of money for a program that won't work.

Thanks

Craig, welcome to these User Forums.

The only real way to know if ATI 2018 will be able to work with your ATI 2009 backup .TIB files would be to download a 30-day trial copy of ATI 2018 and then try looking into your .TIB files via the Windows Shell Integration options to either double-click to open/browse the contents or right-click to Mount the image (Disks & Partitions) to a drive letter.

Acronis publishes KB 1689: Backup archive compatibility across different product versions but this only really shows the versions that they have tested in the labs to prove compatibility, not every version that they have produced over the years.

In reality, most users find that older backup files are still accessible by later versions of the product, but only trying to do this can prove the point.

Note: Make a full backup of your computer before installing the trial ATI 2018 software if you want an easy way to get back to exactly how it was without having to uninstall 2018 and reinstall 2009 and setup all your backups again.

Thanks for the idea Steve. I did that, it does work with my 2009 version. I'm going to go ahead and get the 2018 version.

Craig, thanks for the feedback, glad the idea was helpful and it works for you.
