Content of incremental/differential backup
Hi,
I'd be very grateful for any info on the topic on how to find out more about the contents of incremental / differential backup. I've asked about this topic ~2 years ago and at that time ATI didn't have this functionality and event the Catalog/Reporting functionality of Backup Advanced 11.7 didn't really provide me this info (or I just simply wasn't able to find that out).
My motivation is the following: in case of hard drive silent corruption (which means, that the data is corrupted without the operating system noticing it), it may well happen, that the old correct versions of data will get overwritten at latest at the time point, when the incremental/differential backups are merged to an updated full backup.
Therefore it would be indeed helpful to be able to see the contents of incremental backups. If there are files in the differential/incremental backup, which I'm sure shouldn't be changed, it may well be, that the silent data corruption is happening. The same applies in cases, when the differential/incremental backups get suspiciously large without any evident reason. Or if the content of the file changes without the timestamp of the file being changed (in case when the "slow" incremental backup is used instead of the fast one). It would be good to have a tool to analyze this.
So what is the current status with ATI 2018? Or eventually another product from Acronis?
Many thanks in advance for your reply.
