Deleting backp sets form a backup media

Thread needs solution

Acronis True Image 2018.

What is the correct way to delete unneeded back sets from the USB drive used for backup.  I am not asking how to delete the backup Job just the data from one of the old backups.

Thanks Don

Hi Don

If the backup is still in the ATI GUI you just right click on the V to the right of the backup task name and select delete, then select the option that includes both the task and the backup files.

If the backup has been removed from the ATI GUI, then you can deleted the backup files (*.tib) using Windows Explorer or you preferred file manager. (Be careful here, as there is no way to get the files back if you make a mistake as they are likely to be too large for the recycle bin. There is always a danger of deleting the wrong files.) Before doing so you will need to open Acronis GUI, select Active Protection, then select settings and remove the tick for protect backup files. Remember to reset protection once you have deleted the backup files. (PS These instructions are how it works in ATI 2020; may be slightly different in 2018 - many years since I last used 2018.)
