Disk Management sees disk but ATI 2018 doesn't

Thread solved

I'm working on trying to recover a 2 TB disk. Disk Management sees it but right-clicking [initialize} won't accept MBR or GPT to initialize. If I click on "offline" the return is "the device is not ready" How can I initialize the HDD? Losing all data on the disk is okay.

Lee, welcome to these public User Forums.

If your Disk 3 is showing as being not connected / ready and with a zero size, then it may be in a format that Windows disk management doesn't recognise, i.e. encrypted by Bitlocker or using a non- Windows filesystem such as EXT4 etc.

Try using the Add New Disk tool and see if that will let you select that disk drive and set the partition format etc?

Thanks, Steve.

Disk Management now shows this as Disk 5.  When I access the disk via Acronis “add new disk” it doesn’t show up (see new screen captures))

Why doesn’t Acronis see this disk?

Lee, looking at your images, it looks as if this problem disk is not reporting in correctly and therefore not accessible by ATI.

I would suspect that this disk drive has a hardware problem, perhaps with the logic board?
