Edit task to change destination?
Hi,
I need to change the backup destination of some tasks as I keep running out of room on the current one.
Can I simply edit the task to select the new destination and then move all the related tib files there?
Am I asking too much to expect the task to carry on as usual i.e is it likely to throw up an error?
I've not done this before in the current version and wondering if its more tolerate of task edits than previous versions?
Thanks for your time and any info.

Thank you very much.
I missed seeing that option!

The problem with changing the destination of a task is that ATI is keeping track of the original destination and assumes that necessary older files (eg the full backup of a series) is still there. If you move the files manually, you can create trouble at restore time. A simple way to ensure that the backup integrity is intact is to double click in Windows the latest TIB file. If the Windows Explorer window opens without complaining about a missing file, you are good.
Otherwise, it is best to start a new task when you want to change destination, or backup scheme for that matter.

Thanks Pat.
I wont be moving them manually now that Ive learnt about the r click menu option to move them.
Having done that if I start getting errors I'll create a new task.
Cheers.

My problem is that I need to move the files myself because I need to plug in the drive from one server to another NAS and the files are moved therefore to different location automatically!
I cannot also open both @ the same time because I will need to connect the drive in new location and it won't be visible in old anymore, so no move possible!
How can I still change location and keep history and files intact?

Franz, welcome to these public User Forums.
For your situation, I would suggest that you cannot do this without losing some history information but you can keep all your files intact.
You will need to connect the drive to that new location then use the option to 'Add existing backup' and select the most recent backup file from the new location to be added.
Next, you should reconfigure the newly added backup task to have the same Source data selection as the original task had, then perform a validation for the new task to pick up all the files in the version chain from the new location.
