Empty tib file in Acronis True Image Backup 2018

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I want to restore a specific file from the backup, when I get to the folder drive from within the TIB file in Window explorer, the folder is empty, consequently, impossible to restore a file. However, one of the suggested solutions that I've applied, which  is uninstalling the program, execute the cleanup utility afterwards to make sure there is nothing left and reinstalling the program. Even by doing this the file I want to access from the TIB backup the folder is still empty. This goes for all the backup.

Thank you

Robert

Robert, what type of backup .tib file are you looking at here?

Is this a Full backup file or is it an Incremental or Differential backup file (as identified by having _full_ or _inc_ or _diff_ in the file name)?

What type of file are you trying to restore?  Is this a user file such as a document, image etc, or is it a file from a system folder such as AppData etc?

Hi Steve,

Great fast response, to answer to your question, the backup is an incremental, the file I want to restore is an email file use as a folder from Thunderbird. For the AppData, I'm trying to get away from it because on a reinstalled of the program you lose the previous data, consequently, less control, hidden from the user, easy to forget what to look for. Therefore, everything that is called data is on a different drive in a meaningful repertory with fewer sub folders to search from.

Thank you and have a great day.

Robert, thanks for the updated information.

With Incremental files, you will only see those files that had changed at that point in time from the previous backup file, so if there have been no changes, you will see no files!

Please try working backwards from the incremental chain to look for your target file.

I understand about moving the Thunderbird profile folder - I keep mine on a different drive to my OS too!

Thanks you Steve for the info, I will check. The file has data when I look on all the drives or folders the folder is empty. I will investigate more.
