Entire PC Backup vs Disk Backup

Thread needs solution

I've just started using Acronis True Image 2018.  I chose this application because of the functionality that allows me to reconstruct a failed disk.

Without really understanding the consequences of my decisions, I created an "Entire PC Backup" to run once per day, 6 days per week.  I then configured a "Disk Backup" to run once per week.  My thought was that I needed a "Disk Backup" from which to reconstruct a failed disk.

My question is do I need both of these backups or will one suffice?  Can I restore a failed disk from an "Entire PC Backup"?

I haven't reached the stage where I test the disk reconstruction.  I appreciate any advice regarding how to configure backups.

Thanks in advance ...

You do not need both. Entire PC backs up all HDDs attached to the PC (not sure if it includes USB ones). A more efficient strategy is to do a series of Disk backup tasks, with schedules dependent on the frequency of change in the data. For example I back-up my system disk (which also has the standard locations for documents, downloads, DropBox, pictures and video) on a daily basis. The partition on which I keep installation files for programs is backed up once a month, and data archive partitions (for archived data) once a week.

If possible backup to multiple locations - I backup to local HDD (or attached USB HDD), my NAS and the Acronis Cloud. How may different locations you use depends on the resources available to you and how important the content is.

PS If you have only just started using ATI 2018 you may qualify for a free upgrade to ATI 2019 which was released about a week ago. The eligibility for free upgrade is descried in this post.
