An error occurred while opening the backup archive. (.TIA File Corruption)

Thread needs solution

"An error occurred while opening the backup archive.

Cannot continue the operation because the backup is corrupted, or it is being used by another process, or you do not have enough permissions to perform the operation."

I backed up irreplaceable files using the software thinking it was safe to use then I try to access the backup files that were archived in the.TIA file when I tried opening it up I am greeted with this error message.

Needless to say I am beyond furious.  I really hope someone from this community can help me out with this problem.

This backup was made on a brand-new portable hard drive.

And a note to the developers you did not make any type of indication that the files were going to be moved from my old hard drive to this new hard drive.

I was under the impression that it would simply copy the files from the old hard drive to the new hard drive meaning the files would be left on two devices.

Now there is a very good chance I have lost irreplaceable files due to the way you programmed your software by not informing the consumer.

Marcial,

What did you use to try to open up these files?  If you used Windows Explorer it might be the reason that you got the error.

The Active Protection feature of the software has a Self Defense mechanism that prevents access to True Image files outside of the True Image application.  Did you try to use the True Image app to access the files?  Alternatively you can temporarily disable the Active Protection feature and then access the files using Explorer.  I would caution that you do not move or delete the files from the archive this way however.

In regards to how the Archive feature works, the documentation clearly states that once files are Archived the original files will be deleted.  The objective of Archiving is to move seldom used files to another location and freeing up space from the present location of the files chosen.

Can you tell me how to disable the Protection feature, and how to view the TIA file in the app?

I have been trying to view it in explorer.

To disable Active Protection:

Click on Active Protection (or the Shield icon) on the left side of the GUI.  Look in thetop part of the main window and you should see that Active Protection is On.  Click on the button to the left to run the feature Off.  Click on it again to turn it On again.

To access files on an external drive look in Windows Explorer for an Acronis Drive folder, your archived files can be found there.  So you should be able to select the Recover tab in main GUI window and navigate to this same folder to access the files.

Hey, I wanted to say that this issue was my oversight.

I renamed the TIA file, and didn't change the name of the METAdata file, and they failed to see each other.

After renaming both files to the same name, the TIA archive file works now.

Thank you for trying to help me Enchantech.
