Exit Recovery linux based media and Surface Book 3 will not reboot

Have you checked the boot configuration; assuming you are using Windows 10 or 11 then the boot device should be Windows boot manager.

Ian

The configuration is such that USB is first; I want to be able to boot from the media to make sure that I can see local and cloud backups from time to time. I have 5 windows computer (4 running windows 11 and 1 running windows 10) and this is the only computer that will not boot once I exit Recovery. I should be able to go back to the menu that linux-based media provides and choose how to boot. This computer (windows 11 surface book 3) just sits at a black screen with windows logo. The other 4 computers will allow me to choose how to boot when entering Recovery and they will allow me to choose how to boot once I exit Recovery.

I don't mind using the simple windows based RE/PE; I just can seem to get the Cyber Protect Home tools to be added when I try and create my bootable media this way. Maybe I should just try again.

Michael, how are you trying to create the bootable media, and which particular tools are you meaning here?

There is a new MVP Assistant tool version which now includes a rescue media builder tool that may be of interest to you.

Thank you for your help. I will try the new tool; If it doesn't work I will just resort to a hard boot after I exit Recovery Mode.
