File Recovery, destination is wrong

Thread needs solution

I need to recover a file from my external drive where Acronis is successfully making my backups.

I am using Acronis True Image 2018 build 12510 which I believe is the latest version.

When I click on Recovery from the Backup tab, I get an error that says I must have moved the destination file. When I click thru the messages, it shows that Recovery is trying to open a file from a now deleted version although the Backup is correctly pointed to the correct folder on the external drive.

How do I manually get Recovery to point to the correct file? I have searched the Knowledge Base and this forum but can’t find anything that has helped. Hope you can help, Thanks….

Brett, welcome to these public User Forums.

I can only suggest two options for this issue:

  1. Do the file recovery by using the bootable Acronis Rescue Media instead of using the main Windows ATI application.

  2. Remove the backup task from the main ATI GUI but leave the backup files on your backup drive.  This should remove all references to that task from the internal Acronis Database.  Finally, use the option to 'Add existing backup' in the GUI to select the latest backup .tib file and add this as a task in the GUI using the file name, then retry the file recovery again.
