How get rid of "Acronis Drive" in the Explorer ?
Hi,
since the last Acronis update i've got a useless "Acronis Drive" in the Explorer. Anybody any idea how to remove it ? I don't need such decoration.

HI,
thanks Steve. I'm not using mobile backup. I think the article with drive Letter change will help to avoid that USB media is not appeating in the explorer (but can be accessible using a drive letter).

Rosetta, there is also a backup process "acronis_drive.exe". This process can be stopped using Task Manager.

Hi,
the process don't exist. I also don't want to change the letter, i really NEED to get rid of this drive. I often map some extrenal drives, often this useless drive is hiding a mapped external drive, i need manual to change. IU absolutly don't understrand why acronis is implementing such stressfull useless functions instead om focus on important functionality like BTRFS support. This highjacking, like adware, spamware and other unwanted crap.
Anynbody any idea how directly remove this drive absolutly and for ever ?

I finally repeated the procedure Steve has posted and this also removed this shortcut. Thanks, i may forgotten something. Still, acronis implemenented somethig in their application what sould be easy controleable via application settings. This is real crapware behaviour :-).

Rosetta, please use the Feedback tool in the ATI GUI to make your comments known directly to Acronis, to ask for this to be a configuration setting in the Settings page.

Hello Rosetta,
I've forwarded your feedback as a change request to the product management (internal number for reference is TI-121520).

Hi,
i have installed an update right now and i have to repeat the complete procedurte, sorry but this is a burden. Additonally - the spyware option CEP Programme has been activated without myknowledge and acceptance. Not sure if this is compliant with comming EU law ( (EU) 2016/679) ) .

Rosetta, for the original Acronis Drive issue, this will need to wait for Acronis to review the change request (internal number for reference is TI-121520) that Ekaterina has raised.
With regards to the CEP this seems to default to being enabled again after any upgrade which I agree is annoying, especially if you forget to disable this.
Ekaterina, please could this also be raised as another change request as Acronis should respect the current setting for the "Participate in the Acronis Customer Experience Program" as shown on the main Settings configuration page of the GUI and not reset this when an upgrade is installed. This seems to me to be against the spirit of the CEP webpage description where the term "If you choose to participate...." is used repeatedly, but where Acronis is not respecting the customer choice not to participate!
The same webpage also states:
If I choose to participate, can I opt out later?
Yes. You can leave the program any time by accessing Help->About in the product.
But, again, this is not being respected when an upgrade is installed.

Hi Rosetta,
It is not necessary to turn off the services for mobile backup. Looking at your screenshot in your OP I see that the Acronis Drive is a Network device. Windows has an issue with some devices that once they are added and then subsequently removed they will remain in Explorer views.
If you will open Settings (Windows 8 - 10) or Control Panel ( Win 7) and select Devices, then select Devices and printers from the right side of the screen you will open the Hardware and Sound control panel. You should see the Acronis Drive device here. Click it to select it. This will activate new options in the ribbon task bar under the menu bar. One of these new options is Remove Device. Select that option to remove the device which will in turn remove the device from Explorer views .
The CEP option is on by default in the app. Some users wish not to participate which is understandable. This option must be disabled by the user in the Settings of the TI app. If you dislike this provide Feedback with the in app Feedback option to express that to the Development team.

Hello Rosetta,
I've passed your concern to the product management and legal teams. Currently my colleagues are working on more flexible and transparent model for Acronis Customer Experience Program. I can also confirm, that we send only anonymous statistics to improve product and do not gather or send any personal data, which is compliant with the international rules about storage and handling of data.
Thank you,

I am also burdened by the unwanted Acronis Drive that's now appeared in Explorer across ALL of my PCs with Acrnois installed. This is an unexpected behavior change - and more reason upgrading from the perfectly functional 2015 version was regrettable.
The instructions provided by Enchantech did not solve the issue since there is 'Acronis Drive' device found in Win7 SP1 64-bit Control Panel | Devices and Printers for me to remove (although it is present in Explorer.
Can someone provide a way to remove this once and for all - and prevent it from reappearing in a subsequent upgrade. It would be nice if there was a setting in Acronis to turn this on - and have it OFF by default.
Additionally - I love Acronis because it's simple and straightforward to use. But if I want to dive deep and get very technical, it let's me. I DO NOT want to have to dig into and tweak Windows or disable services hoping I do the right thing because my favorite backup solution has decided to act like Microsoft and know best what I want. Stay technical. Stay simple. But plesse don't start adding garbage I can't turn off or don't get a choice on.
Any help to disable Acronis Drive would be appreciated. Thank you.

Douglas, the Acronis Drive is a feature of the support for Mobile Backups now included in the ATI application.
Please see KB 59584: Acronis True Image 2017: how to change Acronis Drive letter for information on this feature and how to change the letter used.
If you don't use Mobile Backups, then you can turn off the 2 services associated with the task in the Services.msc control panel but this will not remove the Acronis Drive icon showing as a Network location in This PC.

Acronis Drive also is the target location for Archive backup files so if you have used the Archive feature that has probably created the Acronis Drive on your machine. If that is the case you will have to stop using the Archive feature to remove Acronis Drive.

I appreciate the replies Steve and Enchantec, but since I can't get rid of this unwanted and undesirable feature in new Acronis versions, I'll reach out to Acronis for a refund.
Together with a few other items in 2018 I can't turn off and don't want or need, Acronis is no longer the trustworthy, just-does-its-job and runs in-the-background backup solution I've enjoyed and trusted for all these years. While its backups can't be beat, it's now intrusive with new pop-ups, new notifications and now new drives added to Explorer that I cannot remove or turn off.
If there's a better answer to completely remove the unwanted Acronis Drive from Explorer, I can live with the rest. But until then, I'll ask for a refund and downgrade to the 2015 version that was working just fine for me - and stayed quietly in the background without being as intrusive as the 2018 version.

Douglas,
You will have to contact Acronis Support to request a refund as this is just a user forum thus no one here can process your request.

Yes. That's why I said, "I'll reach out to Acronis for a refund."
I fully understand this is a community forum.

I have had no trouble at all getting rid of Acronis Drive from Explorer. I just deleted it. I do have a folder
%AppData%\Local\Acronis\Acronis Drive, which is empty, but it does not show up anywhere unless I explicitly navigate to it.
FYI... Windows 10 Pro (1703) with the following Acronis service states:
Acronis Active Propection (TM) Servce: Automatic, running
Acronis Managed Machine Service Mini: Diabled
Acronis Mobile Backup Server: Manual, not running
Acronis Mobile Backup Status Server: Manual, not running
Acronis Nonstop Backup Service: Disabled
Acronis Scheduler2 Service: Automatic, running
Acronis Sync Agent Service: Manual, not running
Startups:
Acronis Scheduler Service Helper: enabled
Acronis TIB Mounter Monitor: disabled
Acronis True Image 2018: enabled

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MyComputer\NameSpace\DelegateFolders
If you delete the key that starts {b155....] from each of the above registry keys (i've already done so so i don't have the full number] that also does the trick. Though, i should note: this used to work flawlessly without any side effects, but I have noticed that, as of the last 3 or 4 builds [so probably as of the release of acronis 2018] - i occasionally get an error pop up saying 'acronis drive has stopped working', which is presuambly related.
That only started happening with a build in the last 3 or 4 months - and it's very sporadic and infrequent (and i have WindowManager set up to automatically dismiss that warning when it does pop up) so it doesn't bother me. But, fair warning.

Please remove Acronis Drive from explorer. I just want simple/effective imaging with True Image. I skipped all versions after 2010 and just made the move to 2019. All this added on fluff is unneeded and bloatware. Can't you guys just continue to refine your very good backup software. Please stop with all this new feature crap you just can not resist adding to the software. Please turn it back into basic/rock solid imaging and cut out all this new age cloud based crap.

If you don't want to see Acronis Drive, then just stop & disable the two Acronis Mobile Backup Server services then restart the computer.
For your other comments, then please use the feedback tool in the ATI GUI to make these direct to Acronis - we are just users here in the main with just a rare occasional Acronis visitor. Acronis True Image is aimed at a mix of home and small business users for whom many of the features you are calling 'new feature crap' are wanted to protect their data and are in line with having a comprehensive backup strategy.
Personally, I would like to see a more modular approach for ATI that would allow users to choose what specific options are installed and what are not, thus giving users the final choice, but I suspect that this would incur additional costs to engineer that Acronis may not want to spend or else have to pass on to their customers!
