How to rename .tib output files?

Thread needs solution

I would like to change the names of .tib output files of *future* ATI 2018 back up runs of my existing scheduled backups. Of course, I want to make sure that ATI recognizes the new names should I need to restore, etc.

I read that that this could be done with the Move function, but I'm not clear on this.

If correct, please tell me what I enter beyond the directory/sub-directory/ location shown under Move. Do I just enter the new file name and the program would replace the existing name with the new name?

Thank you,

Jordan

Jordan, if you use Move then this will just move your existing backup files to a new destination location that you choose.  This will not rename your future backup files.

If you want to rename such future files, then you need to use the Rename option for your backup task in the ATI 2018 GUI before your next backup runs for that task.  This will cause the new backup file(s) to use that new task name while leaving the older files with their current names.

Thanks, Steve.  I saw the Rename option, but somehow it didn't click. The reason: way back, when I set up these scheduled backups, I believe there was an option to name them and add (via formula) the date or any other text to the name. I don't see that option any more... and my Current name displays as, for example: C_

So, if I have a longer than desired name, say, C_@date_bla-bla... and, let's say I wanted to retain the date option but not the bla-bla... Would I just name it C_@date ?  Is @date the correct syntax?

Thank you,

Jordan

Jordan, see forum topic: Customize the tib.tis file, unable to save in TI 2018 - where this shows how to customise the backup name(s) to include such as date etc.

You cannot include any special characters such as @ in the task name in the GUI, so this has to be done directly in the underlying script .tib.tis file instead.
