Ignore LIst again

Thread needs solution

I reverted from ATI2021 to 2018 because I want the reserve backups - I normally keep three days' worth.

Why does Acronis ignore the Ignore List? And why does it work occasionally? I even added the final backslashes directly into the script.

Three nights ago, the SVI folder, which is supposed to be ignored, somehow increased by 40 gigs in between the Primary and Reserve backups. Very strange.

Two nights ago, the Ignore List was included in the Primary Backup, but those files and folders were not included in the Reserve.

Last night the Ignored items are back in both Primary and Reserve backups.

I give up.

Rob, sorry but not totally sure that I understand the issues here?

By ignore list do you mean the Exclusions for your backup tasks?

The System Volume Information folder is normally excluded by default in the ATI options but if this and any other exclusions are ignored (and included in the backup) then this is normally caused because file system errors have been encountered and ATI has switched to using 'Sector-by-Sector' mode where all exclusions are ignored!

The log files for the backup task should give more information on this issue.

There is a new MVP Assistant log viewer tool that has now been made available by Acronis via the Community Tools page..

If you have Disks & Partitions backups created on ATI 2020 or later using .tibx files, then look in the Backup Worker logs.

If you have Files & Folders backups using .tib files (or Disk backups from earlier versions using .tib files) then look in the Demon logs.

Other logs are shown by the MVP Assistant under the 'Active Logs' heading of the Log Viewer page of the Assistant.

The log files should be zipped to preserve their original file names if sharing in the forums and would need to be less than 3MB in size, otherwise you would need to share the zip file via a Cloud share service such as OneDrive, Dropbox etc.

The issue is that the Exclusions are included in the backups - most of the time, but not always. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it. As a former programmer, I know that there must be some logic to it, but I don't see it.

Rob, sorry but need the logs to be able to say anything further here?
