I'm new and need assistance

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I have been using Acronis True Image for years.......But............the last program I had was True Image 11, not 2011, 11. Yes, that old. It worked great even in Win7 Pro. I have a new computer now that has Win10 Pro. So I decided I probably should purchase/upgrade to the 2018 version. I have and have installed it on the 'new' Dell XPS.

My problem is I would like to use the backup made by my True Image 11 and have the True Image 2018 mount it on the 'new' computer and then I can pick and chose some of the files I would like to transfer from the 'old' computer to the 'new' computer.  I have done the 'mount' and it seems to do it fine. But.....when I try to read/access some of the files I am denied permission??? I can access/read most but the ones listed under 'USER"  cannot?

1. Am I trying to do something that is not possible (TI 2018 mounting/reading a TI 11 backup)

2. Do I need to run the TI Program as an 'administrator' and if so.....how do I do that?

3.  Any other recommendations????

Thanks

Welcome to these User Forums.

If you are mounting a backup image that comes from a different computer, then permissions / authorities for files in user folders are those for the user on that other computer.

What I would suggest trying is just double-clicking on the TI 11.0 .tib file in Explorer on your new computer and then try accessing the same files / folders in that way.

Thanks for the suggestion. As you can tell I am not a computer 'expert'.....just enough to get me in trouble.

I'll try your suggestion.....

thanks
