"Insert New Media..." error message

Thread needs solution

The Flash drive I was using for a weekly backup finally went belly-up.  I inserted a new Flash drive, did a Quick Format and ran my regular weekly backup.  I got an error message: "Please Insert the marked "Volume 1."

I have no idea what this is referring to or how to get past it.  I've tried reloading Acronis True Imagine 2018.  I've rebooted my system.  I've reformatting the Flash drive.  Same error message.

This is for a Windows 10 system, 64-bit.

Any suggestions on how to resolve this?  Thanks very much.

Robert, welcome to these public User Forums.

I suspect that you are trying to continue an existing backup to your new USB Flash drive and ATI is looking for files belonging to that backup that are referenced in its internal database.

The best way forward here is to use the option to 'Clone settings' for your backup task, then delete the original task settings from the GUI.

Edit the cloned task and select your new USB Flash drive as the destination and rename the task as needed before running the new cloned task to make your backup.

Steve,

Thanks much.  That worked perfectly, and all's well.  Much appreciated.

What has me head-scratching a bit is that I've had Flash drives go bad on me before and switched in new ones without getting this error message.  But not being one to look a gift horse in the mouth, perhaps I was just lucky those other times or whatever, and it's good to know the resolution.

Again, thank a lot.

Robert

Robert, glad that the suggestion worked and thank you for the feedback.
