Interested in purchasing this software but have a question first. New to this so want to make sure I do this right.

Thread needs solution
Hi Support,

I am interested in using the cloning software and I have a question.

I have 2 drives in my Windows Web Server which is hosted in the cloud it is a dedicated web server so I do not have physical access to the server.

I would like to clone the drive with the operating system Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard and put it on the other drive that is on the web server.

Now my other drive has files on it but lots of room to clone and backup the 1st drive which as Windows Server 2012 installed on and programs that are installed on the server and configurations of sites that are also on that drive. The files are on my other drive but I would like to put the backup of the clone on my other drive where my files are.

If I clone the operating system 2012 on the one drive to my other drive will I lose my files that are on my other drive that is also on the server.

What I am trying to say is I would like to clone the operating system permissions and software that is installed on the server that is all on one drive and clone that drive to my other harddrive that is on the webserver. However I have files on the other harddrive. If I clone the one drive to the other drive as a backup does it save this as an ISO image or will it overwrite everything on my other drive and clone it. I do not want to lose my files that are on my other harddrive that is why I am asking. I just want this cloned as the operating system as an ISO image so if the harddrive for some reason goes down I can just re-install the image and its back.

Thank you.

Steve, welcome to these User Forums.

Please read KB 1540: Difference between Backup and Disk Clone which will give you a whole lot more information on this subject.

Do NOT clone any drive to another which already contains data that you do not want to lose - cloning will wipe the target drive as the first part of its operation in making a duplicate of the source drive.
