Internal error: number of copied sectors differs from counted

Thread needs solution

Hi All, I have been using Acronis for going on 15yrs now and not have an issue until recently.

I am attempting to restore and image from an INTEL 512gb SSD to a SAMSUNG 500gb SSD and the image will never restore without failing. below is the log from my restore. any suggestions? I have already tried to clean the drive completely of partitions with gpart and linux but I still keep getting the same error no matter what I do. Is the 12gb of space difference between drives that is messing this up? I tried so many different things I really am at a loss here. I could have build the same machine 10x over by now, lol.

Matthew, welcome to these public User Forums.

I would suggest checking that the original INTEL 512gb SSD and the new SAMSUNG 500gb SSD are both directly compatible with each other, i.e. both have the same number of sectors and use the same architecture?

Some SSD's have 512B sectors whereas other newer SSD's use 4KB sectors.

In addition, some Intel SSD's use Optane memory which the Samsung SSD won't have.
