Large File Size

Thread needs solution

I used ATI 2018 which has always worked fine. Lately it's backing up what looks like just my system partition which usually averages about 450 GB per full backup but in the last few days it's ballooned to around 950 GB. I've done nothing different nor installed large programs, files, etc. The partition is around 950 GB so is it trying to back up a partition or what? If so, how do I change it back?

Thanks!

One possibility is that owing to problems with the disk being backed up Acronis has switched to sector-by-sector backup. You will need to look at the logfiles. To do that you need the MVP Assistant - New 2.0 with Rescue Media Builder (Version 2.0.1).

@Steve Smith has advice on which log files to look at:

If you have Disks & Partitions backups created on ATI 2020 or later using .tibx files, then look in the Backup Worker logs.

If you have Files & Folders backups using .tib files (or Disk backups from earlier versions using .tib files) or using Cloning then look in the Demon logs.

Other logs are shown by the MVP Assistant under the 'Active Logs' heading of the Log Viewer page of the Assistant.

The Schedule2 log contains information related to scheduled task but is one of the more difficult logs to read / work through.

Hello Ricky.

Please confirm is that's the size of 1 full backup or if in the backup file contains for example 2 full backups. That difference in size isn't normal or expected if the backup file just contains 1 full backup.

Also check if any recent system updates or changes to files have caused an increase in data size. It's possible that new files or modifications to existing ones have resulted in a larger backup size.

Verify the available disk space on the destination where the backup is being stored. Insufficient space may result in larger backup sizes

Please also check this KB: https://kb.acronis.com/content/2712 and apply the suggestions.

Thanks in advance!
