Move Files from Cloned Drive

Thread needs solution

I created a clone through Acronis then mistakenly killed my laptop. I got my laptop up and running again but want to know how to pull files from the cloned hard drive. I am worried about doing a full restore from the clone as I have voicemails from my deceased mother on there and am very concerned about losing them. I also have all my purchased music on there, which I would absolutely love to get back. The files on the clone seem to be able to be unzipped but some of the files don't seem to be where I think they should be located.

George, welcome to these public User Forums.

Please can you clarify your interpretation of clone in this topic context?

A clone is normally a duplicate copy of the original disk drive, so if you cloned your laptop drive to an external second drive, the two drives should look the same when viewed in Windows Explorer.

If you created a backup of your laptop drive, then this is stored in an Acronis archive file with a file extension of .tib (or .tibx for ATI 2020 onwards).  To work with these archive files, you should be able to double-click on the .tib file in Explorer and it will open and allow you to navigate the contents plus use normal Copy & Paste controls to access the contents.  Alternatively, with any backup that contains disk partitions, you can right-click on the file, and then take the Mount option from the Acronis True Image menu option, to have the archive shown as a new drive letter in Explorer.

The Explorer integration requires that you have the Windows ATI application installed to allow these options.

I cloned it, and they look like all zip files, and some of the file sizes look way off.
i haven't tried unzipping any yet, wasn't sure if i needed additional steps first.

George, sorry but still not very much wiser here!  Can you post some screen shots of what you are looking at please?

Hello

so looking at user files and such, i have a ton of music and im not seeing it anywhere, attached are some screenshots.

George, thanks for the screen image, this does not show an Acronis backup or clone content, this is the contents of a factory recovery partition created by the PC maker to allow the computer to be reset to how it was shipped from the factory.  Looking at the dates in 2014 would suggest that the PC probably was shipped with Windows XP or possibly Vista.  There will be no user data contained in any of these files or folders!
