Do you recommend formatting it? If it is still problematic and inside warranty, return it...????

My Intenso 5TB Ext HDD usb3 is having problems - the file system is None (in Windows Explorer is NTFS) - this only seems in Acronis ti2018 - // do you recommend formatting it, AND RETRY...?

What file system is your Intenso 5TB drive using here?  If it is exFAT then there is no support for this in ATI 2018 and you would need to use the option in Acronis > Tools > Add new disk, then select the Intenso 5TB HDD and choose to prepare as GPT to use this as a NTFS / GPT disk drive.

If you do the above, then anything stored on that 5TB drive will be lost / wiped, so should be moved to another drive before using 'Add new disk'.

The alternative option would be to try using either a later version of ATI such as ATI 2019, 2020 or 2021 / ACPHO, or else a different backup application such as Macrium Reflect 8 Free which has support for exFAT drives.

This Intenso ext 5TB hdd is NTFS

As seem from Windows explorer > properties, and Macrium Reflect free 8.

But has "None" File system in Acronis ti 2018, Windows and bootable media Acronis ti 2018... i am unable to use this as recovery drive in Acronis, so...

I can save my required data and use:

Acronis > Tools > Add new disk

I think this should try...

I can save my required data and use:

Acronis > Tools > Add new disk

This is the recommended way to use a hdd external in Acronis as backup and recovery drive?

It is worth trying the Add new disk option and selecting GPT for the partition scheme.

Okay

I will try soon,... backup some files and reinitilize the external hard drive

Hello, I have a problem with Add New Disk

I have chosen the full 4.5TB as an NTFS Partition

but only 582GB partition create,

Can you post an image of the initial Disk selection view from the Add New Disk program showing your 5TB HDD and how it is currently formatted?

Your images show that the 5TB HDD is already using GPT partition scheme, so it would only be necessary to format the partition as NTFS again, though Explorer already shows it as NTFS, so perhaps the real issue is that ATI 2018 does not like the size of the drive??

I would not advise you to use the Add New Disk tool given your earlier images and results, as ATI 2018 looks like it will not format the HDD correctly if you do.

Download a copy of the free MiniTool Partition Wizard software, install this in Windows, then use it to reformat the 5TB HDD as NTFS then check to see if ATI 2018 still sees it as NONE or as NTFS?

can I create unallocated first, and repeat a second time to create the partition(s)?

Now working install:

Download a copy of the free MiniTool Partition Wizard software,

I just installed:

1

use this Right-click > Format???

2

Or use CMD line Diskpart???

3

Or use Acronis: Add New Disk:

can I create unallocated first, and repeat a second time to create the partition(s)???

You can use diskpart from an Administrator command prompt window.

diskpart
list disk
(to identify USB drive, i.e. 3)
select disk 3
clean
create partition primary
active
format fs=ntfs quick
assign
exit

NOTE: Please ensure that you select the correct disk number as diskpart will not ask you to confirm this before it will wipe the drive clean and all content will be lost!!

If you only want to format the HDD, then just use:

diskpart
list disk
(to identify USB drive, i.e. 3)
select disk 3
format fs=ntfs quick
assign
exit

Just reply, before proceed

1

With diskpart when tell it use GPT...?

2

After finish post a shot from Acronis ti 2018, show NTFS...?

3

Acronis TI 2018:

Can backup to exFAT, but can not recover from exFAT...? This is correct?

Your 5TB HDD is already using GPT so you do not need to do this again.

In Diskpart,

diskpart
list disk   (to identify USB drive, i.e. 1)
select disk 1
clean
convert gpt
create partition primary
active
format fs=ntfs quick
assign
exit

ATI2018 does not support exFAT for Backup or Recovery.

again, I am getting: None in Acronis after diskpart,...well???

try the other options:

1

use this Right-click > Format??? mini tool

2

Or use Acronis: Add New Disk:

can I create unallocated first, and repeat a second time to create the partition(s)???

I think best try now the:

2

Or use Acronis: Add New Disk:

can I create unallocated first, and repeat a second time to create the partition(s)???

Sorry but I don't think that this combination of ATI 2018 and your Intenso 5TB HDD will work together regardless of which ever method you try.

You should either try a later version of Acronis (2019 - 2021 or ACPHO) or else try a different backup application such as Macrium.

The hard disk is inside the warranty period, i have bought at Black Friday 11-2021,

When should i consider ask for replacement or repair?

About Acronis latest versions, am I eligible to try before buy...? Having already TI 2018 bought

Also,

Having TI 2018,

I am eligible for upgrade to latest version, but pay for upgrade, rather than buy a new license?

All versions of Acronis allow for a 30-day trial period, so you could simply download a copy of ATI 2019 (for example) and try it out with the 5TB HDD.  You would be required to either perform an upgrade from ATI 2018 or else uninstall ATI 2018 as the new version uses the same program and data folders, so will overwrite the old version.

Is any reason use ATI 2019, rather than the all newest version ?

Acronis still sell versions like ATI 2019, in other words still sell any versions in the series, or only sell the latest version?

Also, Having 5 PC Acronis TI 2018, buying an upgrade to 5 PC Acronis TI 2019, i am eligible for a discount?

I proceed to make a partition 582GB NTFS and created 5TB Partition NTFS --- success - see shots

Is OK I think now!!!!

The only problem now is:

Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office

Build 40107

For backups done I get: No-Info about the file content, why this message?

ACPHO is a subscription only product therefore you are in a 30-day trial period unless you take out a subscription for further use.  It also integrates Acronis Cyber Protection antivirus / ransomware protection by default which was not included in older versions such as 2018 / 2019.

If when you open the Recovery panel for your backup tasks you do not see any data to be recovered, then the first check is to use the 'Open location' option and check that a backup .tibx file has been created to show that the backup was run to completion.

If there is a backup .tibx file, then the empty Recovery panel is a known issue and can be resolved by doing either or both of the following actions:

  • Perform a Validation for the backup task.
  • Use the 'Add existing backup' option and select the backup .tibx file

Note: .tibx files are not recognised by older versions of ATI such as 2018 which will report them as being corrupt because it does not know how to open them.
ATI 2019 was the last version produced by Acronis that only uses .tib files.
ATI 2020, 2021 & ACPHO all use .tibx files for Disks & Partitions backups.

About solution above, solved myself for "None" become "NTFS" can repeat this for my 4TB Intenso external HDD... same exactly symptoms as 5TB disk?

Sorry but I don't know why that information is not shown.  Does the backup show correctly on the Recovery tab?

Download a copy of the MVP Assistant log viewer tool and use this to look at the logs to see if they show any issues during the operation process?

The latest version of the new log viewer tool is at the link below.
MVP Assistant - New 2.0 with Rescue Media Builder (New Version 2.1.1)

If you have Disks & Partitions backups created on ATI 2020 or later using .tibx files, then look in the Backup Worker logs.
<< Look at the Backup Worker log for the task not showing the file information by file types >>

If you have Files & Folders backups using .tib files (or Disk backups from earlier versions using .tib files) or using Cloning then look in the Demon logs.

Other logs are shown by the MVP Assistant under the 'Active Logs' heading of the Log Viewer page of the Assistant.

The Schedule2 log contains information related to scheduled task but is one of the more difficult logs to read / work through.

The log files should be zipped to preserve their original file names if sharing in the forums and would need to be less than 3MB in size, otherwise you would need to share the zip file via a Cloud share service such as OneDrive, Dropbox etc.

The log shows that the file detail is being generated at the end of the process, so you would need to raise this directly with Acronis as to why it is not being shown.

Q-1

Can Acronis distance support talk via chat & TeamViewer? The Backup Ext HDD Has to be connected? How to contact Acronis Support - URL...?

Q-2

A file-backup-system.tibx needs to rename it file-backup-data.tibx,... how do this? tell docs url

Same time keeping Acronis CPHO structure ok

See How to get support? (from Useful Links on right side of forum pages).  Acronis do support using both chat and TeamViewer when needed.  Acronis Support will advise on whether they need the external drive connected if investigating the issue via TeamViewer.

Renaming backup .tibx files is more difficult as Acronis uses metadata & a database to track file names created by any backup task.

If you use the Rename option for the task, then the new name will only apply to future files being created by the task, it won't rename existing files created with the original task name.

One method of renaming both the file and the task is as follows:

  1. Select the backup task in the main GUI, then click on the Delete option from the task menu.
  2. Select to only remove the task settings.  Do NOT select to delete everything!
  3. Rename the file in Explorer to the new name you want to use.
Note: you will need to turn off Acronis Active Protection to do the rename or else it will prevent the rename!
  4. Use the 'Add Existing Backup' option (which is found to the right of the normal '+ Add Backup' option and revealed by moving the mouse over the caret 'v').
  5. Select the renamed .tibx file from your external drive.
Acronis will add a new task back to the GUI using the new changed file name.
  6. Click on the Reconfigure option for the new task and select the Source & Options.

About the problem with my Intenso External HDD 5TB "None" rather than "NTFS"

Windows 11 > Cyber Protect Home Office still shows "NTFS" >>> OK

But in Windows 10 >

Acronis True Image 2018 [in two PCs both] show "None" >>> Problem

What to do?

Acronis Support time zone and working hours?

Only ACPHO 2023 (#40107) is supported by Acronis.  All older versions of Acronis CPHO or TI are not supported, so Acronis will not fix any issues found in those versions, i.e. ATI 2018.

You are the only person I have ever seen reporting this issue with Intenso HDD's (or any issue related to these make of drives).

You need to contact Acronis to determine what time zones they support / work in - they have offices in multiple different countries around the world.

I have installed TRIAL just prior 2-3 days of ACPHO

does this mean is 2023...? How to confirm the version??

Look on the Account page of the ACPHO GUI and it will show the build version, i.e. #40107 for the latest ACPHO 2023 version.

YES, THAT'S build version, #40107 for the latest ACPHO 2023 version.

SUPPORT is available till TRIAL exist? After 28-days - see shot - and Trial ends, there will be No support?

Is any discount of first year - ACPHO 2023 - due to having 5-PCs Acronis TI 2018...?
