Options reset to initital settings

Thread needs solution

Hi!

I am running Acronis True Image 2018 on 20 PCs and yesterday I suddenly did not receive any email notifications from any of my PCs running True Image. Now I see that all the Disk backup option settings have been reset to initital settings on all the PCs. This must have happened sometimes after 4 am Tuesday October 22 but before 1 am Wednesday October 23. The only settings that have not changed are the schedule settings (but the advanced settings on this tab have also been reset). So now I have to manually make all these settings again on all Pcs.

Have anyone else experienced this? Anyone know why this happened?

Best Regards
Arne

I have the same problem. When I opened the Backup option setting I got in parallel Notifications from Windows like "the standard browser was reset" and  "an app was reset to MS-Edge do to a Problem with standard setting" (excuse wording, I had to translate from German). I use WIN10 Pro Version 1903, Build 18362.418. and ATI 2018 Build 15470.

Best regards

Günther

Arne, Gunther, welcome to these public User Forums.

Arne, what exactly has changed for your backup task settings, and was it the same changes on all of the 20 PC's?

I have only read one other recent topic where a user is reporting the loss of notifications from ATI (2020), but have not seen this on any of my own computers.

Gunther, yours seem to be a mix of ATI and Windows settings being set to defaults.

The main ATI task settings are all stored in separate .tib.tis script files in the C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Scripts folder, including those for notfications, so I do not see why multiple such .tib.tis files should be changed across multiple systems?

See forum topic: True Image 2020 - where I am collecting details of other users reporting similar issues with settings being lost to default.

Hi,

I succeeded to enter the notification parameters for E-Mail again and it is running.
I have no idea what happened. Yesterday I had also a lot of troubles with hang-ups and errors of MS-Edge.

Thanks for looking into the problem,

Regards

Günther

I've too lost all my backup settings.

I manually recreated them - a real pain - and this morning they are all gone again. What a waste of time that was.

Is there somewhere on disk i can recreate my backups from?

I'm using Acronis True Image 2018 - the latest version.

Bret, this a known issue affecting several versions of TI. See https://forum.acronis.com/forum/acronis-true-image-2020-forum/true-image-2020-backup-option-settings-loss

Acronis is investigating the issue.

Argh! I realize today that all my backup definitions are GONE. Now it just says the below and *without* warning my PC is no longer being backed up!!

I thought I was going mad but I am experiencing lost settings in 2017 TI.

Was there ever a fix or resolution of this case please?

Ken, unfortunately this issue is still around for some users!

See True Image 2020 -Backup option settings loss

For older versions of ATI such as 2017 - go into the main Windows Services.msc (control panel) and set the Acronis Managed Machine Service Mini service to 'Manual' for the 'Start up' option instead of it being on 'Automatic', then stop this service.

This MMSM service is responsible for communicating with the Acronis Dashboard servers who in turn trigger the settings to be reset to defaults!!!

Hi Steve!

I hope you're keeping well.

Wow! what a super express reply! Many thanks for that.

Since I posted earlier this afternoon, all I have done is make a table for the numerous backup jobs to enter details  of all the settings so when it happens again I don't have to waste time working out all the various options required for each job type, then entered same. I've just followed your instructions on my main PC and will do so on the other 2 machines where I have Acronis installed, so hopefully my table will be just for general reference and not troubleshooting :-)

Take care, and maybe see you in Cyprus!

Ken
