Restore of True Image 2018 gives error message

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I’m trying to restore a full image backup from 2 days ago on 11/13 (saved on a passport drive) to my current Win10 computer that crashed and has just been restored to Win10.I can start the restore ok ie ‘Operation Progress” > “Preparing” but the bar does not progress and after a couple of minutes says “The backup was added manually or via auto-search. To create new versions, click Reconfigure and then reselect the source.” I don’t know how to do a Reconfigure?

If I proceed without a “Reconfigure” in a couple of minutes I get “Acronis is terminating the current operation, please wait. The computer will be turned off automatically in 2 minutes.
I really need to urgently get this recovery done.

Please reply ASAP!

Thanks
Rob

Dear robls99,
As we can see in our internal system you have an open case. We have prioritized it to make sure to solve it as soon as possible.

Rob, any restore of a backup that includes the Windows OS should always be performed after booting the system from Acronis rescue media, ideally, that media should be created using the 'Simple' option of the media builder so that it uses Windows PE with files taken from your PC Windows Recovery Environment that has device drivers for your hardware devices.

Attempting this type of restore from within Windows will require a restart of Windows to boot into a temporary Linux based boot environment with known limitations, especially for some NVMe SSD's, RAID, and BitLocker scenarios.

KB 60131: Acronis True Image 2018: how to restore your computer with WinPE-based or WinRE-based media

When doing the restore of your backup, this needs to be done as a Disk & Partition restore and at the top Disk selection level.

Please see forum topic: [How to] recover an entire disk backup - and in particular the attached PDF document which shows a step-by-step tutorial for doing this type of recovery / restore.
