Serious problem - Acronis True Image 2018

Thread needs solution

Hi All,

This is my first post in Acronis Forum.

I have a question about Acronis True Image 2018.

I have upgraded to ATI 2018 build 10640 from ATI 2016.

Once the new update is installed, I can run the new Acronis True Image 2018 build 10640 from TrueImage.exe. All previous setting and backups are kept; I try to select one backup activity in the list to the changed FTP connection. Simply click the Destination panel with ftp connection. An Edit window is pop-up, change the setting and run connection test. As the connection test is OK than click the connection button. After waiting for a long time, the program seems like halts and is doing nothing inside. I need to close the program via Window Task Manager. After that I can’t run the ATI 2018 immediately. I need to restart the Window first, then the ATI 2018 can open properly again.

As I try to create a new backup plan, it shows “Running circle & Please wait” for a long time as select backup Destination. A long time later, the program seems like halt again and I can’t close the program with click the ‘X’ in the right top corner of the screen. Until stop the program progress in Window Task Manager.

Moreover, I need to wait for a long time to the next step every time. Is there any problem?

Thanks

Jerry, welcome to these User Forums.

I haven't come across any problems such as you have described, so this isn't a generally known issue or one that is impacting lots of other users.

I suspect that there is something in your Acronis application setup that comes from upgrading from ATI 2016, and possibly from previous upgrades from earlier version(s).

I would suggest trying to do a simple Repair install first off, to see if this is something that can be repaired in this way.  To do this, download the latest full installer from your Acronis account downloads page and install this over the top of what is there already, without uninstalling ATI first.

If the Repair install doesn't resolve the problem, then you will need to do a full clean install by uninstalling ATI 2018, then using the Acronis Cleanup Tool (link in my signature), doing a restart then installing ATI 2018 again.  You will lose your backup task configuration & history by doing this, so you may want to use the new options found on the main Settings page to save the current task settings to a zip file, then import this back after the clean install.

Raj, if you are missing the Winload.efi then you system is wanting to boot in UEFI mode but isn't finding the correct EFI (UEFI) files, which may also include not finding the System EFI partition.

This can be caused by doing a Recovery when booting in Legacy mode with the Acronis Rescue Media, which will assume your drive should be Legacy / MBR and not use UEFI.
