SHOWN: NTFS in Properties of Disk Management & Windows Explorer) But is "None" in Acronis TI 2018

Thread solved

USB 3 INTENSO 4TB PORTABLE EXTERNAL HDD NTFS (SHOWN: NTFS in Properties of Disk Management & Windows Explorer)
But is "None" in Acronis TI 2018.... see attachment

Can you guess if any danger or problem about this...?

Lse, I cannot see this being a positive situation if ATI 2018 is not seeing this 4TB drive correctly and I would recommend running CHKDSK /F for that drive to ensure that any latent issues are identified if present.

OK

Thank you

I will check for Errors soon...

If No errors are found and continue like that showing "None", what to do...? ignore this or try from a PC with newer Acronis TI Version...?

The version of ATI shouldn't really make a difference here.  Have you tried a different backup app such as Macrium Reflect free to see if it also has an issue in recognising the file system on the external drive?

Lse,

Your drive is an external enclosure in which an HDD of 2.5 inch size has been added.  I would bet that the interface used in the enclosures USB 3.0 connection cannot be read correctly by 2018 thus the None you see in the app.

It never hurts to run a chkdsk /f on a disk from time to time to check for filesystem errors however, I think the chances of there being any that can be cleared up to fix the reporting issue are slim.

Hello,

Problem persist with Intenso only External HDDs and Acronis TI 2018

Tried these two Intenso external hdd 5TB & 4TB to:

Macrium Reflect free 8.x

Windows explorer > Properties

But in these latter cases Not such problem, file system clearly indicated by NTFS

Rather than "None" in Acronis TI 2018

BTW recovery of data, disks, partitions with bootable Acronis media, can only done from TIBs located within NTFS file systems... ? Can try recovery bootable media a recovery from TIBs in Intenso external hdd... as a testing?

What you think?

There has been no new development activities by Acronis for any versions of True Image since the release of the new Cyber Protect Home Office application which supersedes True Image, so any new issues would need to be demonstrated as happening with the latest build of ACPHO for Acronis to take any action, and that would only apply to the new version!

This is the only forum topic reporting such an issue that I am aware of - I have not seen any other users reporting this issue for Intenso or other makes of drives, so this may relate more to the drive enclosures being used as to the drives themselves.

Recovery either

whole disks

whole partitions

files and folders

can Only done from NTFS EXTERNAL HDD that the backup tib is in…?

Any recovery has to have access to the Acronis backup image file to be able to proceed.  This is most commonly stored on an NTFS storage drive, but could also be on any other supported file systems as documented in the ATI 2018 User Guide.

Supported file systems

  • FAT16/32
  • NTFS
  • Ext2/Ext3/Ext4 *
  • ReiserFS *

Note: ReiserFS partitions and disks cannot be backed up to Acronis Cloud.

  • Linux SWAP *

* The Ext2/Ext3/Ext4, ReiserFS, and Linux SWAP file systems are supported only for disk or partition backup/recovery operations. You cannot use Acronis True Image 2018 for file-level operations with these file systems (file backup, recovery, search, as well as image mounting and file recovering from images). You also cannot perform backups to disks or partitions with these file systems.

If a file system is not supported or is corrupted, Acronis True Image 2018 can copy data using a sector-by-sector approach.

Supported storage media

  • Hard disk drives*
  • Solid State Drives (SSD)
  • Networked storage devices
  • FTP servers**
  • CD-R/RW, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R (including double-layer DVD+R), DVD+RW, DVD-RAM, BD-R, BD-RE
  • USB 1.1 / 2.0 / 3.0, eSATA, FireWire (IEEE-1394), SCSI, and PC card storage devices

* Limitations on operations with dynamic disks:

  • Creation of Acronis Secure Zone on dynamic disks is not supported.
  • Recovery of a dynamic volume as a dynamic volume with manual resizing is not supported.
  • Try&Decide® cannot be used for protecting dynamic disks.
  • "Clone disk" operation is not supported for dynamic disks.

** An FTP server must allow passive mode file transfers. Acronis True Image 2018 splits a backup into files with a size of 2GB when backing up directly to an FTP server.

The firewall settings of the source computer should have Ports 20 and 21 opened for the TCP and UDP protocols to function. The Routing and Remote Access Windows service should be disabled.

so, storing Tib, backup on ExFAT

The recovery from Ext USB HDD, FS: exFAT Is NOT SUPPORTED Correct?

Correct, ATI 2018 does not support exFAT formatted drives.

Support for exFAT was added in ATI 2019 and later versions.

Supported file systems

  • NTFS
  • Ext2/Ext3/Ext4
  • ReiserFS(3) *
  • Linux SWAP *
  • HFS+*/HFSX*
  • FAT16/32/exFAT * **

* File systems are supported only for disk or partition backup/recovery operations.

** File systems are supported only for disk or partition recovery operations (without resizing).

If a file system is not supported or is corrupted, Acronis True Image 2019 can copy data using a sector-by-sector approach.

Can format an external 5TB hdd usb3, from Acronis ti 2018, as a NTFS FILE SYSTEM,...?

If no, how you recommend format this disk as NTFS, for use with Acronis ti 2018...?
