Solution to CHECK: Active Protection Service is unavailable after recent Win10 update
Dear Community!
We've received reports that after recent Windows 10 update (KB4338819, July 10-13; more details: https://windowsreport.com/kb4338819-issues/) Active Protection Service on some machines with older Acronis True Image builds showed status that it's unavailable.
According to our Kernel team investigation, the problem hides in the specifics of tcipip.sys driver from this Windows update - and service may malfunction in case of rapid connection reopen through this driver.
There is a fresh Windows 10 update published:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4345421/windows-10-update-kb4345421
(it contains updated tcpip.sys driver which could fix the problem)
If anyone has the similar issue which started happening ~1 week ago - we need your help to confirm the fix.
Would you be able to install the new Windows 10 update and report if it fixed the problem? Please share the result as comments here. Since the problem is not 100% reproducible, we need your help to verify the solution.
NOTE: This root cause and solution is specific only to Active Protection Service malfunctioning on Windows 10 after recent Windows update ~1 week ago.
Thank you,
Acronis Team
