[Solved] 2018 True Image Protection and Google Chrome

Thread needs solution

Hi All,

I recently came across the following issue:

Videos of all type started to lag in Google Chrome (63.0.3239 108 (official Build) (64-bit) on Win 8.1).

All other browsers tested (IE11, Firefox) were not affected.

After turning off True Image Protection of True Image 2018, the issue was solved (and hell yeah, it took some time to find this out...)

I disabled True Image Protection now on all systems (Win7, Win8 and Win10) until a solution is available.

Are there others which could notice the same behavior?

Is this already known?

Thanks,

George

George, welcome to these User Forums.

I am using ATI 2018 with AAP (Acronis Active Protection) active / enabled on my Windows 10 systems and also use Google Chrome as my browser of choice and have not noticed any slow down at all.

Please see KB 60193: Acronis True Image 2018: Active Protection blocks legitimate applications for help with whitelisting applications with AAP.

You may want to check what specific Chrome Extensions or Plug-ins you are using when viewing videos and see if it is possible to whitelist the software being used to play them?

If you still see a problem, then I would suggest opening a Support Case with Acronis as AAP is a relatively 'young' feature of ATI and the developers would want to investigate any issues being reported for it.

Thanks for the warm welcome Steve.

All extensions in Chrome are disabled and as you may know, the old chrome://plugins URL no longer exists to check the plugins.

I will see what I can find out checking the active appliactions. My suspicion is the Pepper Flash player in Chrome.

It was simpler than expected:

I put chrome.exe on the whitelist and now it works.

Thanks for the hint Steve!

George, thanks for the feedback and good to know that the whitelist for Chrome did the trick!
