Standalone backup?
Is it possible to do a 'one-off' standalone backup of my system partitions without having a backup chain of differentials or incrementals? I just want to create a reference backup while I try to sort out other problems.
Thanks.

That's great Steve, thank you! I've probably spent too much time trying out other backup programs over time so I tend to get confused easily these days!
Another thing I can't sort out is that because some of my ATI backups 'might' have suspected corruption even though validation says they are OK (see my other current thread
http://forum.acronis.com/comment/434312#comment-434312)
due to a possible cable fault, I want to be able to delete some of the backup chains but the options I am offered are to remove the backup from the list or delete it entirely, including files. Can I be selective about what files I'm deleting or do I have to delete all files and start over again? That might be a good option anyway as I could then reformat the USB drive and make it clean.
And is that the only way to get rid of previous backups or is it OK to delete files from a file manager (Powerdesk in this case)? I have tried that but I get problems. I have tried deleting a chain from a 'full' and the following diff backups but that also seems to mess things up!
I'm aware of course that some of these backups should be purged automatically but I suspect I haven't got the setting right yet which is why I'm thinking of starting afresh (again!). I do also have backups made with Macrium Reflect, which is meant to be the 'braces' to ATI 2018 'belt' so I do have a fallback option still.
Many thanks

You can delete your backup version chains manually but after doing so you need to perform a manual validation of the backup task in order to reconcile the information held in the Acronis Database files with the status of remaining files on your backup drive. You will get a popup error message for each deleted file that you should take the Ignore option for until they stop coming.
The other method of doing this is to use the 'Clone settings' option for your backup task, then remove the original task settings, after which you can do as you wish with the backup files.
The cloned task settings will have the same name prefixed by (1) which you can edit / rename later but you will need to select a different Destination location if using the same name as the original task to avoid conflicts with any remaining original backup files.
