System Backup

Thread needs solution

Hello Fokls....Newbie here :)

As someone who is very new to the art of backing up:

I have a win 7 system where the C: partition is containing

all win and installed application files.  If I want to create a

system backup file for reinstall/recovery, would it suffice to

simply backup the C: partition or there is more to it?

Thank you

Ziloo, welcome to these public User Forums.

The simple answer is that you need to include all the hidden / system partitions on your OS drive as well as the C: OS partition.

Windows uses hidden / system partitions to be able to boot correctly.

This can be the Microsoft System Reserved partition on Legacy boot systems, or the EFI System partition on UEFI boot systems, along with a Windows Recovery partition.

Assuming you are using Acronis to create a Disks & Partitions backup, then all these hidden / system partitions will be included automatically when you select the Windows drive.

Thank you Steve for your prompt response!

Just to make sure I understand correctly, once I choose the c: drive that is also my

first partition (where I installed win7.....legacy Bios I have...) Acronis will do the rest;

I can go get a hotdog........come back and .... voila!!

Assuming that you have set all the options for your backup task, then Acronis can create the backup image on your schedule without any user intervention.

See my YouTube video of doing this for a Windows 10 system.
