System Backup (C: Drive) to (Synology NAS DS418play) *.tib file size seems too small.
I just installed my NAS (Synology DSDS418play) and completed my first 'Full Backup' of the C: Drive to the NAS.
My C: Drive is about 30+GB in size.
Acronis 2018 reports the Backup and Validation were Successful using 25.4GB with recovery size of 35.8GB.
This only took 3mins 31secs which seems too fast.
I checked the Backup (*.tib) file on the NAS and the size is only 14.9GB.
Is there some compression happening here I'm not aware of?
Using Window 10 Pro.

That can't be the reason.
The 'Activity Log' reported it backed up 25.4GB with 35.8GB of 'Data to Recover'.
Yet the resulting FULL BACKUP *.tib File was 14.9GB on the NAS.
I didn't see this kind of file size discrepancy when I was backing up to a local HDD.
Thanks for the reply.

True Image compression is very efficient when it comes to uncWindows ompressed data like that of a Windows OS install. Your 30GB quote tells me you have Windows and not much else installed. My experience has been a fresh Windows install with updates is in line with what you are seeing.
Your Synology NAS backed up the selected data at about an average of 143MBps which sounds correct.

Thanks for the reply.
I've used Acronis since 2009 but know very little about it.
You're absolutely correct about my Computer having Windows installed and not much more.
I recently moved all my Personal Data to the NAS before Backing up the System Drive which was about 80+GB.
I was tired of sorting and moving all my Personal Files every time I changed out the Motherboard so I bought the NAS.
Before the NAS I was keeping all my Files on the System Disk so the Acronis Compression wasn't as efficient.
Thanks for the help, I feel better now.
Is Acronis Compression mentioned in a document somewhere?

Timothy, if you have performed this backup from within the Windows ATI application, then the default Exclusions will have removed a good chunk of your 30GB of source data, i.e. excluding the potentially large pagefile.sys, hiberfil.sys and swapfile.sys system files - all of these will be rebuilt automatically following a recovery by Windows on first restart.
In addition, if you have System Protection enabled for your Windows OS, then ATI also excludes the System Volume Information hidden folders from the backup by default too.
With all of these exclusions and an achievable compression ratio of around 20% this will give the size of backup file you are seeing here for a vanilla new install of Windows.
