Takes LONG time to boot from flash drive
I have been using TI since 2009, just installed 2018 bld 9850. In the past, used to take less than 10 seconds to boot flash drive image built with Reccue Media Builder, Simple. I just waited long enough to boot 2018 from usb, took just under 2 minutes, about 12 times longer than TI 2017. Really weird, looks like Windows 10 started booted, then got a black DOS screen. Now, I need to maximize TI (2017 automatically comes up maximized). This is a major step in the wrong direction. Do you expect to have a build that boots in 10 seconds or so? Both tests were run on the same non-UEFI laptop, USB 2.0.

In reply to Norm, there has been a key… by truwrikodrorow…

Steve,
Thanks for the quick reply. I chose Advanced and Linux and you're right, looks like all prior versions and the speed is back.
Any idea why they changed the default? Is there actually an advantage in the Windows version? If the advantage is not too great, I thing Acronis would be better off putting the default the way it was.

Linux does not have drivers for some important devices; mainly raid drivers for Intel chipsets. Linux does not allow proprietary drivers to be included in distros; this includes video drivers. There may also be issues with some USB and SATA chipsets.
By going the Windows rout, it is possible to inject necessary drivers when creating the recovery media.

Norm, I believe part of the reason for the change to using Windows PE/RE as default is as Ian has already said, but it also brings ATI into line with how such as Macrium and Easeus do things too.
