TI 2018 Backup Timing

Thread solved

Acronis True Image 2018 continues to backup while PC is in active use.  This slows computer significantly.  Although I have used settings to prevent this, nothing has changed.

Daniel, welcome to these public User Forums.

Not sure what you are hoping for here but this is working as expected as far as I am aware.

I do not remember ever seeing any option to have a backup pause when the user is active.  Once a backup has been started, then it will continue to run until either completed or cancelled (by the user or due to error etc).

You would need to schedule your backup task to run outside of the times that you are using the computer, allowing time for the task to finish before you are due to use it again.

Daniel,

What settings have you enabled?  You can schedule the backups to only run when the system is locked or screensaver is on.  And like Steve recommended, if you know that you are going to be busy when the backups are meant to run, adjusting them to occur at a different time, would be helpful.

The user guide help text for the option highlighted by Rob says:

To postpone a scheduled operation until the next time the computer is not in use (a screen saver is displayed or computer is locked), select the Run the backup only when the computer is idle check box.

This is just a delayed start mechanism but once the backup is started, it does not come into play again to cause a pause etc.

Thanks to all.  I had the settings correct, but was hoping that Acronis would automatically pause when system was unlocked or screensaver went off.  That way Acronis would not slow down the system.
