Time limited edition? Uninstalled..
So I was under the impression that the 1 year subscription for Acronis True Image 2018 was actually for the "Cloud" and not the actual application.
Imagine my surprise when the application suddenly stopped warning for a software I paid for!
Between this and the agent application eating all CPU I have now uninstalled this malware and will look for alternatives.
Now better warn other people to not fall for this trap.

The licensing policy also states "Free upgrades to the latest version" and I didn't see any TrueImage 2019 drop in my mailbox either so yeah I still think its more of a foul wordplay implying that you can use the cloud for one year rather than the application.

The free upgrades are to the application and are shown within the application, not advised by email unless you have set your notification preferences to request such mails. The Cloud doesn't have any versions, it has storage tiers where you subscribe to a set amount of storage space - the ATI application has versions, i.e. 2018, 2019 and within those versions, it has builds (aka updates).

Many of the Acronis functions are services that can be disabled in Windows. I think Scheduler2 is the only service needed to run backups.
If you want Acronis True Image to work forever, then you need a Standard license, not Subscription
Steve, the one thing not well documented is how to "downgrade" from subscription to standard. I have until next August before I am impacted by this, but I, too, will run into this.

Patrick, see forum topic: Disable automatic renewal - I agree that this should be a much easier process to action, i.e. should be shown in the account settings against the subscription product as an option rather than needing to be sent a link via a PM as in the linked topic! Unfortunately, Acronis are not alone in this type of practice - many companies like to make it as difficult as possible for customers to cancel out of automatic renewals in my experience!

Hmm. I didn't know I had automatic renewal. Is that the default when getting a subscription? My switching to subscription was an unanticipated and unwelcome result of my being in the 2019 Beta program. I didn't realize I had switched to subscription until weeks after activation. I don't use the Acronis cloud capability and don't have any plans to use it. This perhaps a bit uncharitable of me but I feel a bit blindsided by this. I would have gladly paid the standard license fee in order to avoid switching to subscription.

Patrick, you can only be on an automatic renewal for your subscription if you have provided bank or credit details to enable this. I would recommend checking with Ekaterina as to the actual status of your subscription in this respect. I too have a subscription version of ATI 2019 courtesy of the MVP programme but have never given Acronis any means of automatic renewing this subscription.
