Trial period expires after installing Windows 10 Fall Creators Update early

Thread needs solution

I'm just a few days (~6 days) into my 29 day trial. I've just installed FCU and the trial period has expired.

John, I have not come across any other users posting of such behaviour with trial versions of ATI expiring early due to a Windows Update version being installed?

I can only suggest trying to do a complete clean uninstall of your trial software using the Acronis Cleanup Tool (link below in my signature) then trying a new install after restarting the computer, to see if you get a new trial period or not?  Not sure how this works or whether Acronis has some hidden data to stop misuse of trial software?

If you still have an issue, then you will need to open a Support Ticket to ask about this issue - do so as a PreSales issue given you are using trial software.

Hello John,

I've discussed the case with the development, turned out it's expected behavior. During an OS update the respective registry key that contains information about the trial is overwritten and after that the status of the trial is considered as expired. We cannot re-enable the trial mode at this point, but we'll be glad to send you a trial key, that allows to use the software for 30 days. I've sent you the key in a private message (to view private messages on forum go to My account on the top of the page and click on Dialogs).

Thanks for clarifying this issue Ekaterina, useful to know of this behaviour, especially with the frequent Windows 10 OS upgrades taking place.

Hello,

It looks like this is still an issue with True Image 2018.  May I get a trial key too please

Thank you,

Hey there,

I got some problems with a fresh Windows and ATI Installation too. While updating Windows ATI ends its trial time for me after ~a few minutes/an hour.

Any help around?

Thank you.

Hello Dirk,

The issue reported in this particular topic (Windows update overwrites the information about trial) has been fixed in Acronis True Image 2019. If you are using the latest product version and the issue reproduces on your system, please open a support ticket, so that our engineers can conduct the investigation and involve development if needed.

Thank you,
