True Image 2018 - constantly fails to recognize external USB Hard Drive
I'm not new to Acronis. This is a bug. For what ever reason, and for subsequent backups ONLY, Acronis fails to see the same HDD attached. A bit hard to explain. A work around is to create a new backup task. This always work. Its as if Acronis forgets the connection. Yes, same hard drive letter. Yes, seen in windows explorer. Yes, set to quick removal in the properties under disk management. Very frustrating. I use differential backup scheme. The first backup task always works. When the task is scheduled - an error: Connect hard drive "J". That hard drive is always connected and seen in wondows explorer. USB 3.0 connection, 3TB hard drive, MBR partition scheme (I think). Anyone have any ideas?

Steve, thank you. This may have worked. I will schedule a task and see if it recognize the drive. I will also disconnect the HDD from the system and reconnect to double check. If this indeed solved the problem, I am grateful. This should be a sticky in the "known issue" area. It was easy to fix.

Just wanted to say thank you for this solution. It worked for me. I could not get the media builder to recognize my USB stick until I disabled this setting.

Steve - Thank you for the answer. It fixed my issue of not recognizing an external drive as a source drive, but I've been backing up this particular drive for YEARS and all of a sudden this started happening. Literally - it worked this morning and didn't work this evening until I disabled the USB Selective Suspend. I thought that maybe someone else may benefit from this knowledge... I'm lost as to why.
