True Image 2018 doesn't recognize external disk from within Parallels Virtual Machine

Thread needs solution

I have backed up a set of files from a PC using True Image 2018 onto an external disk.
I now want to recover these files to a Virtual Machine (using Parallels) with Windows 10 that is on a Macbook Pro.
However, True Image on the virtual machine doesn't seem to recognize any external disk.  Other applications on the Virtual Machine recognize the external disks without any problem.

Does Acronis or someone else know what the solution is?

Hello Johan,

Thank you for your posting! I'm afraid we do not support this scenario. Though the operating system inside a virtual machine is Windows, the hardware belongs to Apple and therefore we cannot guarantee proper operation of a Windows version of Acronis True Image. The only supported scenario is to install Acronis True Image on Mac and back up the whole Mac including a BootCamp partition with Windows or a Parallels VM. More information can be found  here
