True Image 2018 error message

Thread needs solution

"Last backup has been stopped. The backup cannot be started. Plug in the external device containing the files of this backup" error message. Backed up last week without difficulty. Did a validate which ran successfully. But still will not back up.

Sanford, sorry but we will need more information to try to understand why your backup cannot be started.

Please download the MVP Log Viewer tool (link in my signature below) and use this to review the log file for your backup operation. This should provide more information on why you are seeing this issue?

Also, sometimes, if your disk is unrecognized, going into the backup task and re-picking the destination (or source, or both depending on the error) can be a simple fix in many cases.  In 2018, the disk detection algorithm seemed to not be as robust as it is in 2019 and 2020.  Anytime the disk would change (drive letter, parition resized manually or due to something like a Windows 10 major upgrade which creates new Windows Recovery Partition), will modify the disk UUID and will not match with the existing backup script information that True Image is expecting "under the hood".  Even if the destination "looks" the same in the GUI, update it anyway, save and run the backup manually to make sure it applies and see if that does the trick.
