True Image 2018 How to Recover a Full image and then a Differential image on a new computer

I need to Recover a Full image and then the latest Differential image on a new computer. Do I do two restore steps using the bootable media before restarting using the Universal Restore Tool bootable media where the new computer drivers are inserted?.

Chester, there is no need to do two restores here.  Just select the latest differential image and restore from that and it will automatically restore the dependent full image as part of the process.

If you are restoring to different hardware than that from which the backup images were captured, then there are more considerations that need to be understood.

What version of Windows OS is involved here?

How do the two different computers boot, i.e. are they both using UEFI or both Legacy - this is important as there may be a conversion needed here?

What disk controller mode is used on the two computers?  Are both using SATA with AHCI - this again needs to be matched.

If you are using Windows 10, then you may not need to use Universal Restore as this OS version is more capable of managing differences in different hardware and finding device drivers.

If you are restoring an OEM version of Windows, i.e. one that came with a computer provided by such as Dell, HP etc, then you will probably need a obtain a new Windows license to use that OS on the different computer as OEM licences are not transferable.  If your new computer comes with a Windows licence, then provided that the two copies of Windows are for the same edition of Windows, then you may be able to use the licence for the new computer with the old OS being restored.  Windows 10 is licenced based on hardware signature, so the restored OS would be recognised based on the new hardware having an associated licence in this case.

Steve, thank you for your thorough reply. Assume both machines are using the latest version of Windows 10. Sounds like after the restore is completed and changing the boot order back to the hard drive, I should be able to reboot the new machine with the restored system.
