Unable to restore backup to the specified disk

Thread needs solution

I have two hard disks in my computer; my C Drive, an M2 drive with a capacity of 919 GB and a 2.5" SSD with a capacity of  894 GB, my D drive. I had occasion to restore my C Drive from a backup a few days ago, and I tried to direct the backup to my C drive, the M2. Although initially I was able to select that drive, when I got to the final step the backup showed it was going to the D drive, with the C drive being grayed out. I tried several times to get the backup to go to the C drive without success, so I finally let the backup go to the D drive, since the few files I had on it, weren't important. After the restore operation completed I was able to clone the D drive to the C drive without difficulty, so I wound up with the files on the C drive where I wanted them. I was just lucky that I didn't have any important files on the D drive.

My machine is a Dell Precision 7510 laptop with Windows 7 and 32 GB RAM. It has a Xeon CPU E3-1505Mv5 @ 2.80 GHz.

Anybody have any idea why I couldn't restore to my C drive?

Billy, sorry but I have more questions than answers at this point.

How exactly are you doing the restore / recovery operation here?
Is this being done from within Windows 7 or are you using the Acronis Rescue Media to boot your laptop and perform this action?
Can you please confirm the version and build of Acronis  True Image you are using? (this can normally be found on the Account page of recent versions).

I suspect you used Linux based recovery media created from an ISO to perform the recovery operation.

Your M.2 drive lacks driver support in the Linux based version of True Image. Driver support is available using the WinPE version when you select the Simple method of creation using the Media Creation tool offered in the application.
