Bonjour Francois, I suspect that you would need to create the Acronis Rescue Media and test booting from this with you USB 3.1 HDD connected to see if this is recognised correctly.

I would hope that it would be detected given that the new default Rescue Media uses the Windows 10 WinRE (Recovery Environment) to boot into the Acronis recovery environment and this should contain the necessary device drivers.  You can also add device drivers via the Acronis Rescue Media Builder tool if this is needed if you are using the ATIH 2018 product version.  If you still have ATIH 2017, then you can use the MVP Custom ATI WinPE Builder tool to create the Rescue Media and add extra device drivers.

Hi,

I purchased ATI 2017 last week and got the free upgrade to ATI 2018.

Then I went online and downloaded the ATI 2018 Boot ISO and burnt it to a CD.

It appears they forgot to include USB support in the downloadable ISO, because True Image doesn't show my USB 3.1 HDD drive using the boot CD.

I've already double checked this issue with the ATI 2017 boot CD and it was able to see my attached USB 3.1 HDD drive.

I am not sure if this only an issue with the online downloadable ATI 2018 ISO as I don't have the full retail ATI 2018 CD.

There was a new build of ATI 2018 released on 28 August, hopefully this issue has been addressed. You can download that build via your account.

I wait to know what it is before buying it

Francois, there is a key difference between the downloadable Rescue Media .ISO file that Karl tested and the Rescue Media that can be created from within the application.

The .ISO file uses an older Linux Kernel to boot into the Acronis application which is unlikely to have the device support for the latest USB 3.1 devices.

Acronis cannot provide a Windows RE or PE version of the Acronis Rescue Media for download as an .ISO file from your account download page due to Microsoft licensing restrictions which do not allow the distribution of Windows software in this way.

This type of Windows RE or PE Rescue Media can be created from within the installed Acronis application.

Francois,

The ATI 2017 Linux rescue media recognizes my USB 3.1 hard drive just fine. However, there is an issue with the ATI 2018 Linux rescue media which doesn't see my USB 3.1 hard drive.

I just tried the ATI 2018 Windows RE/PE rescue media and that could see my USB 3.1 hard drive.

So the the answer to your question is YES.

I am hoping they will fix the ATI 2018 Linux rescue media issue, because removing USB support seems like a step backwards.

You can of course continue to use the ATI 2017 Linux recovery media, however it will not support any new feature added to the ATI 2018 recovery media.

One thing that occurs to me, is the ATI 2017 recovery media for the NG or standard version of ATI? If is the standard, then the issue could also be in the ATI 2017 NG.

Further clarification: I assume that you are attaching the device via a USB 3.1 port, if so which version of 3.1 is it. Have you tried attaching the drive to a USB 3.0 port, as it should run a USB 3.1 device in 3.0 mode.

in first , try with an usb 3.1 hard drive

I have been told that this problem will be referred to Acronis QC (quality control) team; hopefully it will be sorted.
